Tropics in the City Wedding Shoot
Today on the blog I wanted to showcase one of my latest shoots to be featured, as seen in Your London Wedding Magazine & Nu Bride!
Many couples love the concept of an outdoor wedding but can often feel limited by the British weather. Looking to a destination wedding can be a possible solution, but you are often limited to a small guestlist, which isn't always possible! Photographer Sanshine and I wanted to help couples with this dilemma and we decided to create a shoot that was aimed at bringing the destination wedding to the UK. Themed around a modern, chic tropical wedding set in the UK with a colour scheme of bright pinks, oranges, yellow and lime against a white backdrop at an industrial chic venue with large windows, this is the perfect inspiration for a tropical wedding in the heart of London!
Creating a bright, light, summery feel wedding is possible in the UK with careful planning. An outdoor wedding is not often possible with our weather, so if you opt for an indoor ceremony look at wedding venue that have large windows that let in as much light as possible. White walls are also a great backdrop as they naturally reflect light. The West Reservoir Centre is a perfect example of this. Second, book a photographer who specialises in natural light photography such as the wonderful Sanshine Photography, that way you will get beautiful, full-of-light images of your big day to treasure forever.
We had a wonderful team on board to help create our vision. Creating the beautiful backdrop and columns of amazing flowers was the task of Susie at Tissue Blossoms, who makes fantastical floral installations from paper. From bird of paradise to giant orchids, we had every kind of flower imaginable!
To create the tablescape I used tropical leaf garlands as a table runner, with a centre piece of paper flowers, and hints of gold to add warmth.
The beautiful cake was designed by Clare at the Little Bear Cakery, who created a 3-tiered masterpiece, matching the beautiful blooms to our vision perfectly.
On board for hair and makeup was a talented duo, with Nina Bains creating Jess's gorgeous makeup and Roisin Kinch styling hair. For Jess's bridal style I wanted to create something elegant but with a touch of fun. The beautiful ivory gown by Amanda Wakeley was teamed with neon yellow shoes which could just be seen when she walked. A quick dress and makeup change and she was transformed into a coral confection, with her gorgeous hair tumbling loose and ready to dance the night away, perfect for an evening reception!
